Frequently Asked Questions
General Overview: What is SigSwap? SigSwap lets you advertise your (English Language) adult webmaster related site (or a sponsor's site with your referral code) to other adult webmasters for free. Your graphic ad button will be in rotation with other webmasters' buttons, showing on web sites and in forum post signatures all over the web. What are the SigSwap Terms of Use? They can be found here. What are Exposures? Each SigSwap member puts special html code on their approved web site or in their forum signature so that when one of their pages or forum messages loads, a SigSwap member's ad button displays. Every time your ad button is viewed or loaded, it counts as an exposure. What about Credits? One credit equals one exposure of your ad button in another member's signature or ad slot. You get one (1) free credit every 2 times another member's button is shown in your own signature or web site. You can also purchase extra credits on the "ADVERTISING" page to really boost your advertising potential. How do I put the code into my signature? Once you're registered at a particular forum you will have access to your "Control Panel" or "User Options". If the forum offers the ability to use custom signatures (most do), then just look for the field in the "Edit Profile" section where you can enter your signature code, and then copy and paste your codes from SigSwap into that field. (Click here for an example.) How many accounts can I have? You are allowed to have two (2) free accounts in SigSwap. If you require more than this, please e-mail us to arrange it. Is it true I can make money by using SigSwap? Yes it's true. Every button you show in your SigSwap enabled sig or approved web site earns you cash. Check out the Payback Points page for more info. How quickly can I start? You can sign up and get started right away. As soon as you begin using your new SigSwap code you'll be generating exposures. Can I advertise my sponsor? Yes! That's one of the best ways to use SigSwap. Just enter your referral link in the URL field and use a button for your sponsor, and that's it. Do I have to post in only one forum? You can post in as many forums as you'd like. The more posts you have with a SigSwap sig, the more credits you will receive. I run a web site that appeals to people who are interested in the adult webmaster business. Can I use your code to show ads on my web site? You can indeed, as long as that web site has been pre-approved for use by us, meaning that we feel it is useful to people interested in the adult webmaster industry. Please contact us with your site URL and a rough estimate of traffic stats, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. I run a webmaster forum. What's to prevent someone from making nonsense posts (one or two words, super short sentences, etc.) one after the other on my board in an effort to get more credits (sig-whoring)? If you see this happening on your forum please contact us to let us know. We certainly encourage our members to post as often as possible. However, if they are simply posting just to get credits and in the process causing the value of your forum to drop, we will deal with it. First we'll let them know the situation, and then we will keep an eye on their posts. If the situation continues we will disable their account. Can I put my SigSwap code onto a page and set the width and height attributes to 1 pixel? Sure! We check our logs daily for cheaters so doing this will cause your account to be deleted on the spot, but hey feel free to test us if it makes you feel good. Everybody loves a cheater! Seriously, SigSwap is meant to get everyone exposure. If you cheat, you suck, and you're gone, and that's that. Does this undercut a forum's regular advertising prices? Not at all! Just about everyone uses a sig button in their posts. Do they pay the forum to advertise the things in their signature? No... by posting in the forum they contribute to the forum's success. Likewise, the only way a SigSwap button can be seen is via a post IN THE FORUM. You get your ad out there, and the forum gets more posts, leading to more popularity for that forum. Everyone's happy. :) Can I advertise a webmaster forum with SigSwap? Unfortunately that's not something we can allow. It wouldn't be fair to advertise other forums in people's posts. Sorry! Can I buy or sell a SigSwap account from someone else? We do allow this, but you must contact us first with details of the sale before it takes place. I've seen my button ad in someone's sig at a forum. The problem is, that person is not at all the type of person I'd like my company to be associated with. What can be done? One thing about webmaster forums is that they can definitely be a source of daily drama. Sometimes it happens though that the drama is drawing quite a bit of attention to one person in particular, in a negative way. If it so happens that this person is using SigSwap in their sigs, it is of course reasonable that you would not want your ad button associated with them. If that's the case, please email us at the address below to express your concerns. We will look at each case individually and have the ability to immediately suspend (temporarily) or even delete a member from showing our ads in his sig, if the case warrants such action. Are there restrictions on what I can show in my button? Other than things mentioned elsewhere in this FAQ, and although this is an adult webmaster program, we don't allow hardcore images\animations in the buttons that go into rotation. It also goes without saying that any illegal imagery or web sites are also not allowed. We haven't had a problem with this yet, but if you submit a button that crosses the line we'll let you know so we can both take steps to find a solution. How can you be contacted? Just open a ticket at our helpdesk here. Troubleshooting: Why is my button graphic stretched weird? Make sure your button graphic is 120x60 pixels, or it will stretch when viewed in other sigs. Why did I get an invalid destination error? The most likely cause of the problem is that you attempted to click on a button before the graphic image loaded. Another possibility is that you clicked on an old button which was reloaded from your browser's cache. Internet Explorer sometimes caches things in a strange way so this may be the reason. It's a rare occurance though but please let us know if you notice it happening often. Why do I see a red X in message preview mode? If you're using Internet Explorer you may see a red X in place of your button while in message preview mode at a forum. Nothing to worry about... once you actually post the message the button will show up normally. |
